Moodring Kaleidoscope

That's how I describe my mind. An ever-changing landscape inspired by the world around me and quite literally colored by my emotions. My world is imbued with color, feelings and a love for subtle nuances. I can't help but capture the things I love in moments, be it a photograph, drawing or poem. At one time I may have felt ashamed of my unyielding desire to create but now I embrace it, cherish it, and want to share it.

artist statement
Chantal Elena Mitchell (she/they, b.1991) wanders the Jornada del Muerto, sketchbook in hand, capturing enchanting tales of people and blossoms. Chantal's youth unfolded amid morning cartoons, worm hunts and whimsical flower sketches etched into sketchbook pages by tiny, mud-kissed fingers. While in college, Chantal discovered a passion for poetry that weaves seamlessly into her visual artworks. Nostalgic memories derived from nature’s rhythms and colors serve as Chantal's muse, delving into vulnerability through a lens of soft sensuality and self reflective humor. Chantal's murals and artworks are scattered across Truth or Consequences, NM with each telling a vivid story of the fluidity of existence.

a few of Chantal's artworks in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico

Passion Pie Cafe

I am extremely proud of this mural design created especially for the late Tracy Estes, founder of Passion Pie Cafe. Tracy adored the sacred burning heart, so naturally I had to invent the sacred burning pie. I am also responsible for their hand drawn menu boards and logo!

Bigfoot Restaurant

The Jackalope is a beloved figure of southwestern american folklore, particularly in my home state of New Mexico. This clever pink jackalope is a part of the Bigfoot Restaurant cryptid garden, where she stands bold among autumn colors.

Ardie's Market

A few doors down from Passion Pie Cafe sits Ardie's Market Ice Cream Parlor. By far the cutest hybrid boutique and ice cream parlor I've had the joy of visiting, I am also prudly the artist responsible for their menu boards.
